Charging

Bring your own power. Direct supply for eTruck fleets.

Full control of the tariff and cost structure of your electric fleet.

Benefits
eTruck charging infrastructure along the highway with a customized tariff
Our Contribution
We implement direct supply for charge point operators
Stakeholders
Charge point operators, eTruck fleet operators, electricity suppliers

Highlights

Maximise infrastructure performance

  • Improve transparency for charging rates

Direct supply meets the requirements of the tender for eTruck charging infrastructure.

  • Free choice of supplier

Tariff choice is available regardless of the charging point - at every location of the new eTruck fast charging infrastructure.

  • Just one bill

Fleet operators get billed to one invoice and all charging sessions can be reviewed on one platform.

Challenge

eTruck charging infrastructure must allow free choice of rates.

Electric driving reduces the cost of operation, especially for fleets and frequent drivers. But the multitude of charging infrastructure providers shapes a confusing and often intransparent pricing landscape. Those who charge on the go lose control of the charging tariff. Charge point operators, on the other side, must optimise the time of use for their infrastructure and rely on transparent allocation and billing of charging volumes.

Solution

We implement direct supply services for CPOs.

As a service provider with our own virtual balancing area, we implement direct supply features at the charging spot according to the respective terms of the CPO. We integrate the energy sector into the charging infrastructure. Simple, cost-effective, and reliable.

Process

Upgrade your charging stations with direct supply as a standard feature via industry-standard interfaces

Charging Locations
We migrate charge spots to direct supply in coordination with the upstream distribution system operator and your electricity supplier.
Data Communication
We exchange data for location and charging sessions via industry-standard CPMS interfaces (e.g., OCPI, REST).
Implementation
Once the E-Mobility Provider (EMP) authorizes a direct supply charging session, we handle the settlement. For all other charging sessions and use cases, it’s “business as usual.”
Billing
Direct supply charging sessions no longer appear on your electricity bill. In return, you receive your infrastructure fee.

Stakeholders

  • For charge point operators

Direct supply extends the features of your charging infrastructure. Fleet operators and EV drivers gain free choice of their tariff, benefit from a transparent pricing structure, and see their charging sessions billed under their chosen tariff on a single invoice. Charge point operators set the terms for direct supply and stand to gain from more time of use at their locations because targeted tariff incentives make charging at charge spots offering direct supply more attractive. Our direct supply service also ensures that charge point operators comply with the tender conditions for “Bring Your Own Power”.

    Contact

  • For eTruck logistics providers

Electric transport fleets charge at the tariff of their choice, from the supplier of their choice. We enable direct supply with individual billing per vehicle or an integrated solution for the entire fleet. Selecting tariffs with a high share of renewables provides long-term protection against price spikes in the fossil fuel market. And dynamic pricing at the charging spot can unlock spot market price advantages directly for fleet operators.

  • For fleet operators

Direct supply provides the fuel card for electric vehicles. Company cars charging at participating spots are billed to the fleet operator: at the depot, at company locations, or on the road.

Impact

  • The new eTruck fast-charging infrastructure delivers innovation from the get-go.

The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure (Nationale Leitstelle Elektromobilität) has made direct supply a tender requirement for eTruck fast charging along German highways.

    >1,400 Fast charging locations newly created across Germany

  • Direct supply improves transparency

It increases time of use at charging spots and provides protection against excessive charging prices in the long term.

2024 The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure released the eTruck tender making direct supply a requirement.

  • Managing the vehicle’s battery

Managing the vehicle’s battery means activating it for the energy transition. Direct supply improves access to the vehicle battery and increases the utilization of renewable energy generation.

600,000 kWh The available storage capacity of 1000 eTrucks is a boost to system flexibility.
