Why?
Why do we need a virtual grid?
- Reduce complexity
- The power grid is a highly fragmented landscape of more than 800 grid operators, 800 different interfaces, and strict regulation. Innovation can only happen in lockstep. This costs time and efficiency. In the virtual grid, all of this is easier. We map the processes of complex metering points in the virtual grid and reduce complexity for the DSO.
- Increase flexibility
- We use standard interfaces to the distribution grid and create more applications and possibilities in the digital grid.
- Enable new energy services
- There is no lack of good ideas: Supply split behind the central meter, switching between rooftop-consumption and system services, sharing electricity from renewable sources? This is exactly what we enable.

Since 2022 we are connecting 800 DSOs into one digital infrastructure layer across the country: the virtual network. As a NeoDSO we increased our coverage significantly since then and currently reach over 80%.
